
Anthony (Tony) Slatyer is a consultant in water policy and governance and a founding member and current global convenor of the Water Policy Group. He is currently engaged (on retainer) as Water and Climate Policy Integration Adviser to UN Water. He was Special Adviser on Water to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) (2017-2024), and Water Policy and Strategy adviser to the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) (2022-24). He is a member of the Advisers group to the High Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP), and the International Advisory Committee to the Dushanbe process. In Australia, his roles include being chair of the Sustainable Diversion Limits (SDL) Compliance Advisory Panel of the Inspector-General of Water Compliance (IGWC). Tony’s professional background is as a senior official in the Australian Government (to 2017) for which he has been awarded the Public Service Medal for services to national water policy. He has degrees in Laws and Arts from the Australian National University, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
